Past Perfect Tense Formula with examples
पहचान – हिन्दी वाक्यों के अन्त में चुका था, लिया था, लिए थे, दिया था आदि शब्द आते है।
English के sentence में Adverb – Just, always, before, after आदि शब्दो से इस tense की पहचान की जाती है।
* इस Tense में M.V की III form प्रयोग किया जाता है।
* Helping verb – had
Affirmative Sentence
Formula – Sub + had + m.v III form + object + ow + .
Example
– मैं यह फोटो पहले देख चुका था।
I had seen this picture before.
– मैं यह काम कर चुका था।
I had done his work.
– राम के आने से पहले मैं स्कूल जा चुका था।
I had gone to school before Ram come.
– वह रोड़ पार कर चुका था।
He had crossed the road.
– वह रोड़ पार कर चुका था।
He had crossed the road.
Negative Sentence
Formula – Sub + had + not + m.v III form + object + ow + .
Example
– मैं यह काम नही कर चुका था।
I had not done his work.
– राम के आने से पहले मैं स्कूल नही जा चुका था।
I had not gone to school before Ram come.
Interrogative Sentence
Formula – Had + sub + m.v III form + obj + ow + ?
OR
Had + sub + m.v III form + obj + past indefinite + ?
Example
– क्या वह यह कार्य कर चुका था?
Had he done this work?
– क्या राम के आने से पहले मैं स्कूल जा चुका था?
Had I gone to school before Ram came?
Interrogative Negative Sentence
Formula – Had + sub + not + m.v III form + obj + ow + ?
OR
Had + sub + not + m.v III form + obj + past indefinite + ?
Example
– क्या राम के आने से पहले मैं स्कूल नही जा चुका था?
Had he not gone to school before Ram came?
– क्या वह यह कार्य नही कर चुका था?
Had he not done this work?
USES of Past Perfect Tense
1) TWO ACTIONS
Past Perfect Tense का प्रयोग ऐसे कार्य के लिए किया जाता है जो भूतकाल में पूर्ण हो गए थे। सामान्यतया भूतकाल में जब दो कार्य एक के बाद दूसरा पूर्ण हो, तो पहले पूर्ण कार्य के लिए Past Perfect Tense और दूसरे पूर्ण कार्य के लिए Past Indefinite Tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
जैसे-
(a) Before
* Sub + had + m.v III form + obj + past indefinite
– उसके जाने से पहले मैं ये पत्र लिख चुका था।
I had written this letter before he arrived.
– उसके कॉलेज पहुंचने से पहले विद्यार्थी कक्षा छोड़ चुके थे।
The students left the class before he reached college.
* Before + sub + had + m.v III forn + obj + past indefinite
– हमारे 5 मील चलने से पहले उसने गले मे खराश की शिकायत की।
Before we had walked five miles he complained of sore feet.
– इससे पहले कि हम अपना भोजन समाप्त करते, उन्होंने हमें वापस काम करने का आदेश दिया।
Before we had finished our meal he ordered us back to work.
(b) When
When + sub + had + m.v III form + obj + past indefinite
– जब उसने खिड़की बंद की तो हमने पिंजरे का दरवाजा खोला।
When she had shut the window we opened the door of the cage.
– जब हमने सभी दरवाजो के ताला लगा दिया तो हम घर से रवाना हो गए।
When we had locked all the doors we left the house.
(c) After
Past Indefinite + after + subject + had + m.v III form + obj
– ट्रेन रवाना होने के बाद, वह स्टेशन पहुँच चुका था।
He reached the station, after the train had arrived.
– अपनी कक्षा का काम पूरा करने के बाद वे खेलने के लिए बाहर भागे।
They ran out to play after they had completed their class work.
(d) As
As + sub + had + m.v III form + obj + past Indefinite
– जब उसने अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी कर ली थी, तब वह कॉलेज गई।
As she had completed her study, she went to the college.
(e) As soon as
As soon as + sub + had + m.v III form + obj + past indefinite
– जैसे ही वे अपना कक्षा कार्य पूरा करेंगे, वे खेलने भाग जायेगे।
As soon as they had finished their class work they ran out ti play.
(f) Till/Until
Past Indefinite + till/until + sub + had + m.v III form + obj
– उसने स्कूल जाने से इनकार कर दिया जब तक की वह सभी तस्वीरें नहीं देख लीं।
He refused to go to school till he had seen all pictures.
– उसने तब तक इंतजार नहीं किया जब तक मैंने अपना काम पूरा नहीं कर लिया।
He did not wait till i had finished my work.
2) ONE ACTION
– वह पहले ही मुझे सूचित कर चुका है।
He already informed me.
– मैं पहले कभी दिल्ली नहीं गया था।
I had never been to Delhi before.
– क्या राम ने एक पुस्तक लिखी थी।
Had Ram written a book?
– उसने मुझे तुम्हारे बारे में पहले कभी नही बताया।
She had not told me about you before.
3) EXPECT/HOPE
Past Perfect का प्रयोग expect, hope, intend, mean, suppose, think तथा want आदि क्रियाओं में किया जाता है जो past इच्छाओ और कल्पनाओ के बारे में किया जाता है जो पूर्ण नही है।
जैसे –
– मुझे उम्मीद थी कि तुम यहां पहुंचोगे। (लेकिन तुम नही पहुँचोगे)
I had hoped that you would get here. (but you did not get)
– पिछले साल मेरा इरादा अमेरिका जाने का था। (लेकिन मैं नही जा सका)
I had intended to go to USA last year. (but o couldn’t go)
4) UNFULFILLED WISH
Past की unfulfilled wish, condition और desire आदि को प्रकट करने के लिए I wish, if, as if तथा as though के साथ past perfect का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
इस तरह से वाक्य स्पष्ट करते है कि कार्य हुआ नही
– काश की मैं प्रथम श्रेणी से पास हो जाता।
I wish I had passed in the first division.
– काश उसने मुझे पहले देखा होता।
I wish he had seen me earlier.
(5) CONDITIONAL SENTENCE
If + sub + had + m.v III form + ……. + would have + m.v III form + obj
– अगर मैं समय पर आ जाता तो ट्रेन पकड़ लेता।
If I had come on time, I would have caught the train.
– अगर उसने मुझे सूचना दी होती, तो मैं निश्चित रूप से वहां जाता।
If he had informed me, I would have gone there positively.
(6) SINCE/FOR
Past Perfect का प्रयोग ऐसे Actions के लिए since/for के साथ किया जा सकता है, जो वक्ता के बोलते समय भूतकाल में शुरू हो चुके थे जैसे –
– राम जब अठारह वर्ष का था, तब से एक सैनिक है।
Ram had been a soldier since he was eighteen.
